My 10 Favorite Christmas Specials

Description

I now it's July, but have you ever heard of Christmas in July? (and it is 6 months 'till Christmas)

And I might as well get it over with.

#10. Beauty & the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas- Even though it's a little mediocer at some points (like Beast/Adam hating Christmas because that was the day he turned into a Beast), but it's one of the more decent direct-to-video/DVD sequels of Disney.
It at least had some good new characters (like Angelique and Phiff), more of Belle and Beast's relationship, and I love the song "As Long As There's Christmas" (mostly the rephase verison).

#09. The Rankin Bass specials- Can't have the meme without mentioning them.
After all, the studio gave us classic Christmas specials like the Rudolph trilogey, "A Year Without a Santa Clause," "Frosty the Snowman," and many more.

Our parents watched them when they were kids, we watched when we were kids, and we can make sure our kids watch them one day.

#08. How the Grinch Stole Christamas- Don't forget this classic either.:)
Both the book and the 1960's special are a charming tale of the true meaning of Christmas, and a grouchy guy who had a change of heart.^^

Though I can't say the same thing for the 2000 film adaptation. :paranoid:

#07. (tie) The Santa Clause 1 & 2- Only include the first 2 movies of the trilogey (because the 3rd is on a different list ).

Though I like the first one better because it explains a lot more of the purpose/job-position of being Santa Claus.
The second one didn't explained about the other characters of "The Coucil of Legendary Figures" (Were they normal people too before they got the jobs? Did they have a holiday clause that made them this way? )

Plus, Tim Allen provides a lot of good laughs in the films.:XD:

#06. Disney's The Small One- It's a nice little Christmas short made from Disney, and this was one of Don Bluth's earliest works (Heck! He was the head-animator of the short).

The animation is amazing, and the friendship between the boy and the donkey will bring tears to one's eyes at the end.

#05. Disney's The Little Match Girl- Another Christmas short made by Disney.
I found it very ironic that this short was includes on the anniversary edition DVD of "The Little Mermaid," because both of the stories (the original versions) were written by the same aurthor, Hans Christan Anderson.

The short didn't left out much of the original story (except for the match girl's relationship with her mean father), and it's beautifully animated.
The ending may be bitter-sweet when the girl dies in the snow, but at least her spirite is with her grandmother, the only person who really loved her.

#04. Home Alone 1 & 2- If there was one (or two) Christmas films I would watch when it's not Christmas, it's the two original "Home Alone" movies.
Plus, who can forget all of the traps Kevin set for Marth & Harry? :lmao:

#03. Rocko's Modern Christmas: Most Christmas of TV shows I've seen are mostly parodies/re-tellings/spoofs of classic Christmas stories like "A Christmas Carol" & "It's A Wonderful Life";
But this holiday special of "Rocko's Modern Life," doesn't fall victum to the same old cliches.

It was original, funny, charming, and a nice special to watch any day (even when it ain't Christmas yet).

#02. A Muppet Family Christmas: This is probably the best of the Muppet Christmas movies, and a must-watch for any Jim Henson fans.

Not only does it have the Muppets in it, but it has the cast of Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, and a brief live-action moment of Muppet Babies.
Add in a cameo of the head puppet-master, Jim Henson himself into the special, and you got yourself a winner!

If this was made in the 90's, I would've love to see the Sinclairs from "Dinosaurs" joining the crew to celebrate the holidays.

#01. Buh, Humduck: A Looney Tunes Christmas Carol- This special is more of a remake of another Looney Tune Christmas special, but I prefer this one over the other one.

It's such a major improvement from the older special in character casting, pacing, setting, animation, and story.
And it really shows a more lovable and sympathedic side of Daffy.

Though I wasn't fond of Billy West's performance of Bugs Bunny in this special, other than that, it's completely flaw-less.

It's one of the best re-tellings of "A Christmas Carol" I've seen, and it's an adorable special that I highly recommend.:)
