My Top 10 Fav Childhood Movies

Description

Here's 10 of my favorite movies as a child.

#10."The Land Before Time": Besides "An American Tail: Fivel Goes West," "The Land Before Time" was another film that introduced me to Don Bluth.

I liked it as a kid because of Little Foot and the gang being kids my age (or older), and it was the only flick with Dinosaurs in it that I would watch with my cousin Terry.

Now I like it because it has a strong message on frienship and not giving up.

However it's #10 on the list because of those direct to video/DVD sequels (why did they have to sugar coat it? )

#9. "Beauty and the Beast"- My mom and I love this film together.
It had beautiful animation, likable characters (except for Gaston), some great songs, and a much realistic relationship between Belle and Adam/Beast.

And I love the title song at the end sung by Celin Deon and Peabo

I actualyl would put it higher on the list , but it's a Top 10 list, and I don't want to add too munch Disney films.

#8. (tie) "We're Back!" and "Once Upon a Forest": These two movies are in a tie because I love both of these films together.

Sadly "We're Back!" is hated by a lot of critics because they thought it was a "distraction" to "Jurassic Park" (which was released on the same date).
But some info: This movie ISN'T based on the same book!

"We're Back!" is actually based on a different book made for kids with the same title.

So it was clever for Speilburg to release two films based off of two films, and two appeal the audiences of different ages.

And this is the second time that I get to hear John Goodman sing, and he's pretty good.

As for "Once Upon a Forest," it too had a ton of likable characters and a light-heart image with a powerful message for surrival and saving a dear friend.

Though I am surprised that it was a Hanna-Barbera film because it absolutely didn't look like any HB style I've before.

#7. (tie) "The Pagemaster" and "The Rescuers Down Under": Screw what the NC said about this film, I never find it boring.

Plus this wasn't a message to make kids read, it's for them to imaginate.

The main characters are memorable and easy to like (especially Horror), it had a great soundtrack, and I still remember the song "Whatever You Imagine" (it still opens on mind everytime I hear it).

And for "The Rescuers Down Under," it had a better cast of character then the first film, a more threating villain, an awsome music score, and fantastic flying animation

#6. "Wakko's Wish"- I had to put this movie on the list because I am an Animaniacs fan after all.

But it's number 6 because of these reasons:
1.) I wished that movie was all focused on just the Warners
2.) Have a lot more serious story then what this really had
3.) It need a movie-feel likel to it (like say make the colors a lot darker)

Plus, I don't think it's a perfect way to end the series, and the movie isn't actually canon to the show, it was just the cast spoofing a Christmas-like story.

And I didn't think the Animaniacs series ended, the crew beyond this sort of gave up on this because they had a lot of cartoons to do at that time, and the 100 episode limited thing with Kids WB.

#5. "My Neighbor Totorro": This flim introduced me to Miyazaki, and the first time I've discovered Japanese animation.

It had a nice story, great animation, and the Totorros and Soot Sprites are so cute.^^

It's #5 because I've only seen the Fox English dub. Personally I think the new Disney dub would be a lot better because I personally didn't like the voice actresses they picked for Sasuki and Mai (Sasuki sounded too old for her age, and Mai sounded like Angelica Pickles : bleh: )

#4. "The Thief and the Cobbler"- No matter which version it is, it's still one of my favorite movies (despite how much was left out).

And Richard Williams is also one of my inspirations of cartooning.

However, besides some of the animation sequences, a few characters from the movie were also deleated. Like the Witch was deleted from the "Arabian Knight" dub and was called "King One-Eye's sister," Yumyum's twin sister Mimi, and the Oger prince.

#3. "Sleeping Beauty": I loved this classic ever since I was little.

While everyone here hates Princess Aurora, she's actually one of my favorite princesses.
And the three fairies are like they come from a sitcom when they interact with each other.:giggle:

What I find fascinating this film is that the animation is actually based off of the old Irish book illustrations, like something that came out of the Book of Kells.

It's like the whole movie setting actually took place where my family roots are.:omg:

#2. "Little Nemo: Adventures In Slumberland": Another movie that I thought was made America, but was actually made in Japan.

Great voice-acting, gorgous animation, a nice music score, and nice cast of good characters.

It's a classic that I'll never forget.

And the Goomps characters are so cute and lovable, and their design is MUCH better then what Japan originally planned to animate them.

Now the number one animated film of my childhood:

#1. "Ferngully: The Last Rainforest": This movie had everything in it that made me like so much.

The animation, the story, the heroine, the supporting cast, the music, the message, voice-casting, and the villain.

I liked how it took place in Austrailia and the background and animals were all drawn perfectly.

The character of Batty (played by Robin Williams) he still keeps me laughing after all of these years.:lmao:

As for the ZackxCrysta vs. PipsxCrysta thing: Sorry, but I'm going with PipsxCrysta.

Because originally Pips and Crysta are boyfriend and girlfriend, but their relationship was at non-canon stage like how Danny and Sandy (from "Greace") started

While Crysta only thinks of Zack as a great friend, that's why she backed away from the kiss Zack gave her, because she knows she already has a boyfriend.

And I like Pips better because he's more slick and he actually did care about Crysta more then Zack did. Heck, he was even the first one that worried about Crysta when Hexxus ate her.

As a bonus, when Pips is with the Beetle Bog Boys, they remind me so much of the Gang Green Gang (from PPG).

Pips= Ace: The good-looking leader of the crew

Bark= Little Artauro: The smallest and youngest member

Stump= Big Billy: The Big guy of the crew

Root= Grubber: The gross one

and Twig= Snake: The skinny one

As for the villain Hexxus, that guy sure scared the lights out of me when I was little. :fear:
